Faculty
Department of Business Law and Ethics faculty members are outstanding teachers and researchers who truly care about their students. Every one of our 13 full-time professors holds a JD degree and most have extensive legal backgrounds in private practice or government positions.
The Academy of Legal Studies in Business (ALSB) frequently recognizes our department. Three faculty members have received the group’s Holmes-Cardozo Award, a national research award, while five department members have received ALSB’s “Best Article” award for articles in the American Business Law Journal. Five faculty members have won the Harry C. Sauvain Award for excellence in undergraduate teaching—the top undergraduate teaching award at the Kelley School—and five more have won MBA Teaching Excellence Awards. Our faculty contribute to leading law journals such as the American Business Law Journal, Journal of Business Ethics, Georgetown Law Journal, and the Minnesota Law Review.
One of the most widely used business law textbooks, Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment, is penned by our faculty members and is in its thirteenth edition. Another leading textbook, Law for Business, is authored by our faculty members and is in its tenth edition.
