On the CMA

With three years each in strategy consulting and sales, I was grateful for my varied experiences. I knew it was time to put it all together and understand my experience from an academic perspective. That’s why I joined the Consumer Marketing Academy. I’m learning how to better understand consumer behavior and how companies turn consumer insights into action and opportunity.

My Bio

Undergraduate: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Finance

Hometown: Wilmette, Illinois

Internship: DuPont, Wilmington, Delaware

The first time I came to IU was for an intramural basketball tournament. I walked into the HPER and saw rows of basketball courts. It was fall with orange and yellow leaves surrounding the limestone buildings. Even before I started the MBA application process, I knew I wanted to be here.

All of my good feelings about IU, Kelley, and the Consumer Marketing Academy have since been confirmed. The directors and faculty are supportive. I’ll shoot them an e-mail and then they’ll want to meet one on one. You only get that sort of attention at a school like Kelley.

I have complete freedom over my courses, and they match my interests. I am free to explore my interests, including my passion for global business.

I speak Mandarin Chinese and my parents are from Taiwan. My sisters and I are the first generation of our family to go to school in the United States. I’m from a family of engineers, but I know business is my calling. I’m thrilled that my summer internship at DuPont will expose me to an innovation-based company whose mission I believe in.
