On the CMA

As a career-switcher from financial services to brand management, the CMA has helped position me to take my career to the next level. Not even a year into the program, I’m managing a $12 million brand, collaborating with some of the country’s top consumer marketing firms, and building a lifelong personal and professional network for myself.

My Bio

The CMA jumped out of the page at me as a real differentiator for Kelley when I was looking at other top-ranked marketing MBA programs.  It promised a solid education while also giving me the opportunity to take advantage of its well-established corporate partnerships with many of the top consumer marketing companies in the U.S. and the world.

I’m a passionate ‘foodie’ and have always thought that working in the industry would be a blast, so my internship is perfect for me. The CMA’s relationships with the country’s major food companies have truly opened doors for me. I can’t say enough about the strong Kelley CMA alumni network, as well. It has helped me navigate the complex world of consumer marketing from day one.

There is a focus on career preparation here. Ray Luther, a former director at P&G, is the CMA’s career coach and has been an invaluable resource for all of us. He’s honed my interviewing skills and given me perspectives on how to apply what I learn in the classroom to real business settings.

In my past career in financial services, I saw that the most successful leaders who emerged from very challenging economic environments were those who had diverse business experiences, possessed a strategic mindset, and always knew when to let the consumer drive their decisions.  I knew the CMA could help me in each of those ways to make me a more competitive and well-rounded business person in the future.
