Areas of Study
Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management
The Organizational Behavior & Human Resource Management major is one of three doctoral majors offered by Kelley’s Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. As such, our faculty members are interdisciplinary scholars, focusing on research that spans boundaries across the other two majors as well as marketing, economics, social psychology, political science, and international business.
Doctoral students in Organizational Behavior & Human Resources Management take courses in both areas because of the interrelated nature of the fields. Organizational Behavior focuses on human behavior in social settings with an emphasis on explaining, predicting, and influencing behavior in organizations. Our faculty in this area focus on employee motivation, task performance, organizational citizenship behavior, employee attitudes, leadership, and group processes. Human Resources Management emphasizes strategic human resource systems, the design and implementation of various personnel tests, compensation systems, training, and issues in performance appraisal systems.
