Areas of Study
Strategic Management & Organization Theory
The Strategic Management & Organizational Theory major is one of three doctoral majors offered by Kelley’s Department of Management and Entrepreneurship. As such, our faculty members are interdisciplinary scholars, focusing on research that spans boundaries across the other two majors as well as marketing, economics, social psychology, political science, and international business.
Doctoral students in Strategic Management & Organization Theory take courses in both areas because of the interrelated nature of the fields. Strategic Management focuses on managing the total enterprise at the strategic level, aligning its characteristics with its external environment. Organization Theory explores the variables that influence an organization’s choice of structure. Our faculty focus their research efforts on corporate governance processes, competitive analysis, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, and chief executive succession.
