3/2 MBA and Law (JD) Joint Degree
Earn an MBA and law degree in four years.
With the 3/2 MBA and Law (JD) Joint Degree, you can earn both an MBA and law degree in four years. If earned separately, these degrees customarily take five years to complete.
Students pursuing an 3/2 MBA and JD joint degree generally specialize in taxation. The program requires 77 credits to be completed at the IU Maurer School of Law as well as 54 credits in graduate business courses.
Students who matriculate through the Kelley School of Business must apply and be accepted into the School of Law to begin the joint degree program by the fall semester following the first year of the 3/2 MBA program. Visit the JD/MBA Program website for more information.
3/2 MBA and JD students must enroll through the Kelley School for three semesters and the School of Law for five semesters. During the first two semesters in the business school, the students must enroll for 18 credit hours each semester. The 3/2 MBA core is very labor intensive. Because of this, students who are enrolled in the first year core are not allowed to take any additional courses outside the core. Upon completion of the first-year core classes, students are required to take 18 to 21 additional credits through the School depending on their track choice. The 3/2 MBA program fee will be assessed for all semesters the student enrolls through the Kelley School.
