José Pablo (JP) Vega is an MBA candidate in the Kelley School of Business, Indiana University.  He is pursuing an education in Finance and Strategic Management, with a focus in management consulting.

After his first year at Kelley, JP worked as a Summer Associate with Kalypso, an innovation consulting firm recognized as one of Consulting Magazine’s 2011 Seven Small Jewels.  He helped a Fortune 500 company incorporate strategic thinking into project go/kill decisions by providing a tailored framework that predicts competitive responses to new product launches.  In his second year of school, JP now works as a case interview coach for the Undergraduate Career Services Office and serves as Chair of the Conduct Review Committee.

Before beginning the MBA program, JP obtained a degree in Computer Engineering from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC) and worked for five years in the IT industry.  During this time, he developed software modules for a variety of interesting projects: a collaborative web platform for patent researchers, a group of applications that monitored slot machines in land-based casinos, and mobile invoicing software that could integrate with external Enterprise Resource Planning systems.

JP has a track record of leadership that includes serving as vice-president of the TEC Student Federation.  He also coordinated the efforts of the political group Universitarios por el Sí through the Dominican Republic – Central America Free Trade Agreement (DR-CAFTA) approval process in Costa Rica.  He strongly believes that diversity of thought is the perfect channel to reach optimal solutions for modern business problems and that soccer is (and always will be) the king of sports.
