Applied Probability Theory
- 15-weeks
- 3 credits
- Prerequisite: None
The purpose of this course is to give you a firm foundation in probability so that you can, at the very least, read and understand journal articles that contain probability models. The primary goal of this course is to teach methodology. Methodologies covered include the following: distribution theory, transforms, calculation of probabilities and expected values by conditioning, discrete-time Markov chains, Poisson processes, continuous-time Markov chains, renewal processes, and some queuing theory.
