Faculty
The Operations and Decision Technologies Department faculty members are known for both their acclaimed research and for their willingness to mentor and advise students. Our faculty members have won 112 teaching awards, including Kelley’s overall MBA teaching award (eight times) and Kelley’s Innovative Teaching Award (six times). At the national level, they have won the “Best Teaching Case” paper, the “Best Paper in Information Systems” (twice), and the “Best Conference Paper” (six times).
We like to think of our professors as knowledge creators: Our faculty members have published more than 75 articles in professional journals in the past two years and have written 35 unique books, including the definitive textbooks in operations management, operations research, data communications and networking, data analysis, and Excel modeling. They have consulted for organizations ranging from hospitals and nonprofits to corporations and major league sports teams such as the Dallas Mavericks.
To support this research and knowledge creation, Operations and Decision Technologies department faculty members have received $950,000 in research grants from the National Science Foundation; $220,000 in research grants from the state of Indiana; $2.25 million in research grants from corporations; and $675,000 in curriculum development grants from corporations, all since 2000.
Above all, our faculty members enjoy mentoring and encouraging students—a relationship that doesn’t end after graduation. In fact, many of our graduates come back to recruit students from this department and stay in touch with their professors as they enter new phases of their careers.
