The Program

Spend the summer studying in historic Oxford, England and experience global business in an international environment!

Join us for the Kelley in Oxford Information session on Friday, January 31 at 3:00 p.m. in BU 213.

Kelley is offering BUS D365: Cross Cultural Management at Jesus College in Oxford in July 2014. This three credit hour course, taught by Kelley Professor Patricia McDougall-Covin with guest lectures by Oxford faculty, will help you develop a cross-cultural sensitivity and strengthen your cross-cultural knowledge and skills. Through your assignments, guest speakers, and company visits, you will examine the implications of national culture on business practices, leadership approaches, communication, and interpersonal relations in various international settings.

Students who matriculated before May 2011 may use the course toward the International Dimension Requirement. The course does not apply to the World Language and Cultures requirement nor the sophomore Global Foundation Core. This course may be applied as an elective toward the International Business co-major. The course also fulfills 3 credits of the World Languages and Cultures requirement, but should be paired with another 3 week/3 credit course to complete the requirement.

You should plan to arrive at Jesus College on July 6, 2014. The course will take place July 7 July 26. You will be required to check out of your room the morning of July 26. All students will stay in single dorm rooms on campus. Professor McDougall-Covin and one additional Kelley staff member will also be staying on campus. The program will include several field trips to business and cultural institutions in and around London and Oxford. You will also have some free time to explore and travel on your own.

Once accepted to the program, you will register for D365 via OneStart and will pay normal tuition fees via the Bursar. In addition, you will be charged $2,700.00 to cover housing July 6-26, daily breakfast, two dinners, and transportation for group excursions. This charge will appear on your bursar account and will be billed as follows. A $500.00 non-refundable deposit will be charged February 21, 2014. The remaining $2,200.00 will be charged on May 2, 2014. You will be responsible for arranging and paying for your own flights and transportation to and from Jesus College. You will also be responsible for any expenses not listed above such as remaining meals and passports.
