Undergraduate Building Expansion & Renovation...

On August 14th 2009, the IU Trustees approved the architectural design of our undergraduate expansion/renovation project.

The Schematic Design phase is complete and BSA LifeStructures, in tandem with the IU Project Team, is now knee-deep into Design Development. Our office's charge is to secure the remaining private support for Phase 1 (the expansion) in order to meet the proposed construction target of the summer of 2011, concurrent with Phase 2’s (the renovation) design launch.

Once Phase 1 is complete, the existing Kelley undergraduate population will inhabit the new space, thereby enabling the construction team to renovate the existing facility, floor by floor.

The expansion will be four-levels – comparable to its neighbors. Its primary facades will face 10th Street and Fee Lane. The “L-Shaped” plans will wrap the south and west faces of the existing structure’s “C-Wing”. The expansion will include:

  • Undergraduate Program offices - A mixture of administrative offices, advisory offices and presentation space
  • Classrooms - Sizes: 60-station and 180-station
  • Trading room - Team space
  • Student Commons - Gathering space for the combined complex
  • Student Meeting - Collaborative work areas
  • Multi-Purpose room
