Kelley hosts 7th Annual National Team Selling Competition - 10/09/2013
With the support of two Kelley Distinguished Corporate Partners, Altria and 3M Corporation, the Center for Global Sales Leadership at Kelley welcomes sales teams from 21 universities to compete in their seventh annual National Team Selling Competition. On October 10th and 11th, sales teams from 21 universities across the United States will get the chance to take their classroom knowledge and experience and apply those skills in a selling situation that is realistic and relevant in today’s market. The National Team Selling Competition at Kelley is unique in its application of a team approach to the competition, rather than an individual approach. The 2013 competition will be an invaluable experience for the elite university sales programs.
Real World Application
“Our goal of the NTSC is to give sales students the opportunity to take classroom knowledge and experience and apply those skills in a selling situation that is realistic and relevant in today’s market,” said Rosann Spiro, executive director for the Center for Global Sales Leadership. “The NTSC provides a venue for sales students to compete with peers from other schools as well as demonstrate sales skills. We hope everyone found the case challenging and will learn from the team selling approach to sales.” Candace Mailand, Sales Innovation Manager at 3M Corproation recognizes that competitions like the National Team Selling Competition prepare students for success in the working world: "These type of events provide students with an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skill sets that they've developed in the classroom to 'real world' competitive selling situations. The more students participate in such events, the better prepared they will be when they enter the professional workforce." Thanks to the generous support of our partners at 3M Corporation and Altria, the top three teams will earn a total of $4,500 in prize money.
Corporate Partner Participation
The teams from all 21 schools have an opportunity to network with Kelley students, faculty, and corporate partners. Jennifer Whaley, Senior Account Manager with Altria, explains why the competition is so important to their company: “Our goal continues to be to provide the students with a 'real world' selling situation,” Whaley said. “The students continue to amaze us with the quality of their sales presentations and their ability to work as a team.” This year, 3M Corporation and Altria will join to present this unique opportunity to sales students across the country and are covering all operational expenses of the competition.
