"New Yorkers ARE Nice!"
Josh (BS '09) - 03/20/2012
After a year working in the banking industry for a private equity fund in NYC, Josh realized that he had a lot to learn about the industry and needed someone with experience outside of his office to answer industry questions, provide career guidance, and help him further develop his skills. He decided to work through the Kelley Alumni Network to identify Kelley alums who might be helpful. He reached out to several people, but it was David (BS '01) who works for Citi in NYC, who proved to be the most helpful! David spent an hour on the phone with Josh talking about the industry and his career. They met for dinner two weeks later and had an even more in-depth conversation. Since that first chat, Josh and David have talked several times, developing a mentoring relationship. The advice Josh has received from David has been invaluable and Josh has been able to advance his career as a result. Additionally, because of David's responsiveness and willingness to help, Josh wanted to "pay it forward" and signed up to volunteer with Kelley as a Student Career Advisor to counsel current students!
