Legal Issues in Human Resource Management

This course provides a comprehensive overview of legal issues that affect the responsible and ethical strategic management of an enterprise’s human resources, including issues of employment benefits, health and safety, privacy, equal employment opportunity/anti-discrimination, and work-related family and medical issues. The course will prepare students to:
1. Gain working knowledge of the complex array of employment-related laws and regulations;
2. Better design human resource systems, which insure that the organization is in compliance with the regulatory framework;
3. Work more effectively with corporate counsel and outside attorneys in both preventing legal violations from occurring and resolving them satisfactorily when they do.
