Abstract
The goal of many operations and supply chain management researchers is to develop new, or extend existing, operations management theory. This paper discusses the importance of practice-driven research, and details the role APICS - The Association for Operations Management has played in supporting that research. It also describes practice-driven research and provides possible approaches to conducting the research. Current issues and problems that are potential research topics are identified from APICSsupported focus groups and other organizations.
